AmCan - Possessing the same title in both the US and Canada, i.e. AmCanCD is an American and Canadian Companion Dog

AX - AKC Excellent Standard Agility title: agility work at the highest level: the most obstacles and a reduced time to do the course

AXJ - AKC Agility title, Agility Excellent Jumpers With Weaves. Agility work at the highest level, with additional jumps and weave poles and a reduced course time.

AXJP - AKC Agility title, Agility Excellent Jumpers With Weaves, Preferred Level. CanUD - CKC Utility Dog degree: highest dog obedience level (scent discrimination, directed jumping, signals)

CanWRD - CKC Water Dog title, the basic water rescue work (fetching, towing a boat, delivering a line, swimming)

CanWRDX - CKC Water Rescue Dog Excellent title, the advanced water rescue work (rescue, jumping from boats, directed retrieving)

CSL3-S - CPE Specialist -Level 3- Strategy Games: An aggregate agility title in which the dog earns three legs each in Snooker and Jackpot

DD - NCA Draft Dog title: cart work by a single dog (obedience, maneuvering, freight haul work)

EGC - NADAC Elite Gamblers Certificate, the highest titling level of gamblers games

EL - OFA designation for Newfoundlands, indicating the dog is certified to be free from elbow dysplasia (i.e. EL93)

FDN - Paws 2 Dance Freestyle Novice Dog title: musical freestyle, where the dog and handler perform a routine of their own devising to music.

MX - AKC Masters agility. When a dog earns his novice, advanced and excellent level standard titles, he is eligible to try for a masters. To earn an MX title, he must qualify in ten excellent standard runs.

MXJ - AKC Masters Agility, Jumpers With Weaves. When a dog earns his novice, advanced and excellent level standard titles, he is eligible to try for a Masters. To earn an MXJ title, he must qualify in ten excellent jumpers-with-weaves runs.

NA - AKC Novice Standard Agility title: agility work at its most basic level

NAC – NADAC Novice Agility Certificate. A standard novice course including contact equipment (A-frame, dog walk, teeter) as well as weave poles, tunnels and jumps. Veteran dogs jump four inches lower and are allowed slightly more time.

NAJ - AKC Novice Jumpers With Weaves Agility title: agility work at its most basic level, but extra fast-paced, without the contact obstacles or pause table

NAP - AKC Novice Agility, Preferred. Same course as novice agility, using all the equipment, but the jumps are four inches lower and the dog is allowed 5 seconds more course time.

NJP - AKC Novice Agility Jumpers, Preferred. Same course as novice agility jumpers, but the jumps are four inches lower and the dog gets 5 seconds more course time. An NJP course is primarily jumps, but typically includes weave poles (5 or 6 poles).

NCA - Newfoundland Club of America, the parent club that sponsors dog shows and working trials for Newfoundlands only in the United States

NJC - NADAC Novice Jumpers Certificate. Agility at top speed, because the course consists only of jumps, or jumps and tunnels. Veterans dogs jump four inches lower; either the dog (age seven or older) or the handler (60+) can be the veteran.

NF- OFA designation for Newfoundlands, indicating the dog is certified to be free from hip dysplasia (i.e. NF-473)

OA - AKC Open Standard Agility title: agility work at the middle level: more obstacles, less time to do the course

OAC - NADAC Open Agility Certificate, the middle level of NADAC standard agility

OAJ - AKC Open Jumpers With Weaves Agility title: agility work at the middle level, but extra fast-paced, without the contact obstacles or pause table

OAP - AKC Open Standard Agility title, preferred level: agility work at the middle level, with more obstacles, less time to do the course. The Preferred (P) class gives senior handlers a few more seconds course time, and allows certain breeds (including Newfoundlands) to jump at reduced heights.

OF - AKC Open FAST agility title, the middle level of FAST competition

OFA - Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, the agency that evaluates dogs for soundness and grants certifying numbers if the dog is without genetic orthopedic malady

OFP - AKC Open Preferred FAST agility title, the middle level of FAST competition, but with the jumps set four inches lower

OGC - NADAC Open Gamblers Certificate. Gamblers has two parts. The handlers make up their own course for the first half, accruing points based on the obstacles the dogs take. When the whistle blows, the handler switches to a predetermined course that has to be done in the set order. Veterans usually get a slightly longer time to complete the second half of the course.

OJC - NADAC Open Jumpers Certificate, the middle level of jumpers competition

OJP - AKC Open Jumpers With Weaves Agility title, preferred level: agility work at the middle level, with more obstacles, less time to do the course. The Preferred (P) class gives senior handlers a few more seconds course time, and allows certain breeds (including Newfoundlands) to jump at reduced heights.

OTCh - AKC Obedience Trial Champion title, the highest honor in obedience, achieved by earning points in competition by other dogs by placing first or second in Open or Utility in many, many shows

RAE - AKC Rally Title. The “championship” of rally titles. To earn one RAE leg, the dog competes in both the Advanced and Excellent at the same show and qualifies in both. He must do this ten times (earning ten RAE legs) to be awarded the title.

RN - Rally Novice title: entry level rally work, performing basic individual obedience-type tasks (on lead) while following a preset course.

RA - Rally Advanced title: intermediate level rally work, performing a more difficult series of individual obedience-type tasks (including jumps) while following a preset course. Advanced rally is performed off lead.

RE - Rally Excellent title: highest level rally work, performing the most difficult series of individual obedience-type tasks (including jumps and combinations) while following a preset course. Excellent-level rally is performed off lead.

SpCH - CPE Specialist Champion, the ultimate level.

TD - AKC Tracking Dog title: the sport form of search and rescue, where a dog follows a human scent

TDD - NCA Team Draft Dog title: two or more dogs working together in harness pulling one cart (obedience, maneuvering, freight haul work)

TDX - AKC Tracking Dog Excellent title: the extremely advanced sport form of search and rescue, where a dog follows a three to five hour old human scent over obstacles over a great distance

TGN - NADAC Touch-N-Go agility, Novice level. Touch-N-go courses contain obstacles, tunnels and hoops.

TGO - NADAC Touch-N-Go agility, Open level. Touch-N-go courses contain obstacles, tunnels and hoops.

TNE - NADAC Tunnelers agility, Elite level. Courses consist only of tunnels, and Elite is the highest level.

TNN - NADAC Tunnelers’ agility title, Novice level. Courses consist only of tunnels, and novice is the basic level.

TNO - NADAC Tunnelers’ agility title, Open level. Courses consist only of tunnels, and open is the middle level.

UAG1 - United Kennel Club (UKC) Standard level agility title. The dog must earn three legs on a standard agility course.

U-CD - United Kennel Club (UKC) Companion Dog degree: basic dog obedience (heeling, coming, staying)

U-CDX - United Kennel Club (UKC) Companion Dog excellent degree: more advanced dog obedience (jumps, retrieving, out of sight stays)

UD - AKC Utility Dog degree: highest dog obedience level (scent discrimination, directed jumping, signals)

UDX - AKC Utility Dog Excellent title, high level obedience earned by achieving ten qualifying scores at the UD level

VCD1 - AKC Versatile Companion Dog title, Level 1. This is an honorary title recognizing the dog who works in many venues. The dog who earns a CD, NA, NAJ, and TD (or, if he competes in agility at the preferred level, a CD, NAP, NJP, and TD) is awarded the VDC1 title.

VCD2 - AKC Versatile Companion Dog title, Level 2. This is an honorary title recognizing the dog who works in many venues. The dog who earns a CDX, OA, OAJ, and TD (or CDX, OAP, OJP, TDI is awarded the VCD2 title.

VN - NCA Versatile Newfoundland title: granted automatically to any Newfoundland earning a championship, CD obedience title, WRD water title, and DD draft title

WD - NCA Water Dog title, the basic water rescue work (fetching, towing a boat, delivering a line, swimming)

W-FD - World Canine Freestyle Organization, Inc. Freestyle Dog title: musical freestyle, where the dog and handler perform a routine of their own devising to music.

WRD - NCA Water Rescue Dog title, the advanced water rescue work (rescue, jumping from boats, directed retrieving)

WRDX - NCA Water Rescue Dog Excellent title, the highest water rescue work title. The six exercises include high-level rescue, jumps from boats, diving under rafts, saving comatose swimmers, and directed retrieving.

WVN - NADAC Weavers Novice agility title. A Weavers course consists only of weavepoles, tunnels and hoops. Novice is the basic level.

WVO - NADAC Weavers Open agility title. A Weavers course consists only of weavepoles, tunnels and hoops. Open is the middle (advanced) level.
